About St Vincent de Paul Society
For more than 170 years we have been providing practical and compassionate support to people across Victoria whose daily struggles can include putting food on the table, paying essential utilities and ensuring their children remain at school to obtain an education.
Our organisation provides many services and programs, including soup vans, education programs, home visitation programs and VincentCare Victoria (VCV), which assist some of Victoria’s most vulnerable communities, such as people experiencing homelessness, the housing crisis and family violence, and the elderly.
Little bit about the role
This role supports both project and business-as-usual payroll functions, reporting to the Payroll Manager. Initially, you will support the successful implementation of the Dayforce HCMS platform by testing payroll configurations, validating parallel pay runs and ensuring compliance with awards and legislation. After go-live, you will focus on delivering accurate and timely fortnightly payroll processing, reporting and providing responsive support to employees and managers across Victoria.
Your responsibilities
- Support Dayforce implementation through system configuration, testing, and resolving discrepancies with HR, project teams and vendors.
- Perform parallel payroll testing by comparing Dayforce with the current system and document outcomes.
- Validate pay components including leave, superannuation, tax, deductions, and allowances; maintain variance logs.
- Conduct Excel-based reconciliation and reporting.
- Assist with go-live preparation, cutover planning, hypercare support and knowledge transfer.
- Process accurate and timely fortnightly payrolls, including employee movements and payroll events within Dayforce.
- Maintain payroll records and ensure accurate processing of timesheets, leave, and adjustments.
- Ensure payroll compliance with PAYG, superannuation, FBT, long service leave, and assist with statutory reporting and Workers compensation.
- Generate, reconcile and contribute to payroll reports and audits; support ad hoc reporting requests.
- Provide responsive, professional support to employees and managers on payroll queries and procedures.
- Identify and implement payroll process improvements post-Dayforce implementation, collaborating with Finance, IT, and HR.
About you
You will have experience with Dayforce or a similar HCMS/payroll system, demonstrated payroll expertise across multiple awards and strong analytical skills to support both implementation and ongoing payroll operations.
- Demonstrated experience in end-to-end payroll processing in a complex, award-based environment, with strong knowledge of payroll legislation including PAYG, superannuation, workers compensation and FBT.
- Proven experience supporting payroll system implementations or upgrades, including conducting parallel pay runs and resolving system configuration issues.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including VLOOKUP, pivot tables and formula-based reconciliations, with experience creating payroll test scenarios and validation reports.
- High attention to detail and accuracy, with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve payroll discrepancies independently.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, able to engage stakeholders across HR, Finance and IT.
- Commitment to the values and mission of the St Vincent de Paul Society, with adaptability and resilience in changing project environments.
- Team-oriented approach with a strong customer service mindset, able to manage sensitive payroll queries with discretion.
Why work for us? We offer
- Salary packaging, sometimes called salary sacrificing is a huge attraction here! It is a popular way of providing employees in the community sector with tax benefits over and above their salary. It means the real value of a salary package can be significantly higher than the nominal value.
- We make an incredible difference in the lives of over 300,000 people every year.
- We believe in families, so we like to provide a family-friendly environment in which to work.
- We offer a place where you know you are contributing to an organisation committed to helping others. We are passionate about #SocialJustice.
- Hybrid working model.
Where good happens #Goodworks
