About St Vincent de Paul Society

For more than 170 years we have been providing practical and compassionate support to people across Victoria whose daily struggles can include putting food on the table, paying essential utilities and ensuring their children remain at school to obtain an education.

Our organisation provides many services and programs, including soup vans, education programs, home visitation programs and VincentCare Victoria (VCV), which assist some of Victoria’s most vulnerable communities, such as people experiencing homelessness, the housing crisis and family violence, and the elderly.

Little bit about the role

This role is responsible for developing and curating a desirable, purpose-driven Vinnies product range that aligns with the mission of our retail shops. It plays a key part in ensuring our stores consistently offer a relevant and in-demand selection of products that provide exceptional value and quality to our customers. By delivering a strong and thoughtful retail offering, the role contributes to the ongoing sustainability and impact of our retail operations.

In addition to enhancing the customer experience, this position supports and empowers our members and volunteers, equipping them to respond more effectively and compassionately to the needs of people experiencing disadvantage. Through collaboration, creativity, and a deep commitment to social justice, the role helps to drive positive outcomes for both our customers and the communities we serve.

Your responsibilities

  •  Develop and manage a commercially viable product range aligned with Vinnies’ mission and retail strategy.
  • Oversee the end-to-end buying process, including supplier negotiations, product lifecycle management, and stock delivery.
  • Track product performance and ensure ranges meet financial targets and KPIs.
  • Build strong relationships with suppliers, store teams, and internal stakeholders.
  • Support marketing initiatives and contribute to retail planning, including online range and in-store ticketing.
  • Ensure procurement activities follow budget and policy requirements.

About you

  • Strong alignment with the mission and values of the St Vincent de Paul Society.
  • Must have a passion for fashion.
  • Proven experience in buying or merchandise planning within a retail environment.
  • Commercially minded with solid financial and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Organised, proactive, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
  • Committed to teamwork, innovation, and delivering value to the community.

Why work for us?  We offer

  • Salary packaging, sometimes called salary sacrificing is a huge attraction here! It is a popular way of providing employees in the community sector with tax benefits over and above their salary. It means the real value of a salary package can be significantly higher than the nominal value.
  • We make an incredible difference in the lives of over 300,000 people every year.
  • We believe in families, so we like to provide a family-friendly environment in which to work.
  • We offer a place where you know you are contributing to a firm committed to helping others. We are passionate about #SocialJustice.
  • Hybrid working model.
