About St Vincent de Paul Society

For more than 170 years we have been providing practical and compassionate support to people across Victoria whose daily struggles can include putting food on the table, paying essential utilities and ensuring their children remain at school to obtain an education.

Our organisation provides many services and programs, including soup vans, education programs, home visitation programs and VincentCare Victoria (VCV), which assist some of Victoria’s most vulnerable communities, such as people experiencing homelessness, the housing crisis and family violence, and the elderly.

Little bit about the role

The Trusts and Foundations Manager is a high-performing, self-driven professional responsible for significantly growing philanthropic and institutional grant revenue for St Vincent de Paul Society Victoria. With a sharp focus on sourcing and acquisition, you will lead the full grant lifecycle — from identifying and cultivating funding opportunities to crafting exceptional, high-impact proposals.

Working across all areas of the organisation, you will proactively build internal relationships to uncover fundable projects, source critical data and insights, and ensure proposals align with both funder priorities and organisational impact. With exceptional writing skills, attention to detail, and a fast-paced approach, you will ensure Vinnies is front of mind for major funders and positioned to secure transformative grants.

Your responsibilities

  • Proactively identify, qualify, and prioritise grant and funding opportunities from philanthropic trusts, foundations, institutions and government sources
  • Maintain a rolling grants calendar and robust pipeline to ensure consistent, high-quality submissions
  • Develop a forward strategy to identify future funding gaps and opportunities aligned with Vinnies’ programs and strategic growth areas
  • Proposal and application writing and internal relationship management
  • Funder stewardship, reporting and data and performance monitoring
  • Contribute to the organisational culture

About you

  • A degree in a relevant field such as Business, Marketing, Nonprofit Management, Fundraising, or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 5 years of demonstrated success in trust/foundation or institutional grant writing
  • Strong understanding of funding principles, program design, and impact measurement
  • Exceptional written communication skills with a meticulous, perfectionist approach to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and juggle competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills and proven ability to build effective internal relationships.
  • Highly proactive, self-motivated, and solutions-focused

Why work for us?  We offer

  • Salary packaging, sometimes called salary sacrificing is a huge attraction here! It is a popular way of providing employees in the community sector with tax benefits over and above their salary. It means the real value of a salary package can be significantly higher than the nominal value.
  • We make an incredible difference in the lives of over 300,000 people every year.
  • We believe in families, so we like to provide a family-friendly environment in which to work.
  • We offer a place where you know you are contributing to a firm committed to helping others. We are passionate about #SocialJustice.
  • Hybrid working model.
