About St Vincent de Paul Society
For more than 170 years we have been providing practical and compassionate support to people across Victoria whose daily struggles can include putting food on the table, paying essential utilities and ensuring their children remain at school to obtain an education.
Our organisation provides many services and programs, including soup vans, education programs, home visitation programs and VincentCare Victoria (VCV), which assist some of Victoria’s most vulnerable communities, such as people experiencing homelessness, the housing crisis and family violence, and the elderly.
Little bit about the role
Vinnies Transport is an essential component for supporting our retail stores. The major functions performed by Vinnies Transport are the collection, sorting, storage and distribution of donations. The role of the Driver is to collect donated goods from public homes, business and SVDP donation bins and deliver them to the target location, as well as to load and unload the goods. The Driver is also expected to have a total commitment to safe operating practices at all times and high levels of customer service with all contacts.
Your responsibilities
As the Driver, your responsibilities will include:
- Driving in a safe, courteous and timely manner
- Supervising the Jockey
- Collecting and delivering donations from private homes, corporations and donation bins as directed by the Team Leader
- Loading and unloading as per safe work practices
- Completing a daily vehicle checklist
About you
To be successful in this role, we need you to:
- Have a valid MR driving license
- Can easily travel to and from Ballarat
- Pass a Medical Test
- Be able to fulfil the physical requirements of the role outlined in the Position Description (including lifting, carrying, pushing, etc.)
- A positive, can-do attitude
- Right to work in Australia
- A background in commercial driving is preferable but not essential
