Overall, St Vincent de Paul Society Victoria has many arms and services. These include soup vans, education programs, home visitation programs and VincentCare Victoria, which provides a range of services and programs for people who are experiencing or at risk of homelessness and disadvantage. This includes crisis accommodation, drug and alcohol dependency programs, and housing.

The IT Transformation team will play a pivotal role in delivering on strategic projects and helping the organisation to achieve operational excellence.

 

About the Role

This 18-month maximum-term, 0.8 FTE role (30 hours per week) reports to the IT team and focuses on designing, building, and maintaining integrations between Human Capital Management Systems (HCMS) and other business platforms. The HCMS Integration Specialist will be responsible for ensuring seamless data exchange across HR, payroll, finance, and other systems while advising on best integration practices and maintaining data integrity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Integration Design & Development: Lead the design and development of HCM system integrations, ensuring smooth data exchange across business systems. Collaborate with HR, payroll, finance, IT and other teams to gather and validate integration requirements. Recommend integration approaches (API vs. flat-file) and build solutions using Azure services for ETL processes, including complex data mappings.

  • Integration Testing & Validation: Develop and execute the System Integration Testing (SIT) strategy, ensuring all integrations function properly. Monitor data accuracy and resolve any defects through root cause analysis and collaboration with internal teams and vendors.

  • Data Mapping & Error Handling: Develop mapping rules for key data (e.g., employee information, payroll codes) and implement error-handling processes for seamless business operations. Create tools for automated logging, monitoring and reporting to proactively manage integration issues.

  • Azure Integration & Development: Utilize Azure services (Logic Apps, API Management, Functions, Data Factory, Service Bus) to build and manage scalable, secure integrations. Ensure compliance with organizational IT policies.

  • Stakeholder Engagement & Advisory: Work closely with HR, payroll, finance, IT and vendors to ensure successful integration design and implementation. Provide technical guidance and collaborate with the System Architect to align with broader IT strategies.

  • Continuous Improvement & Compliance: Monitor and optimize integrations for better efficiency and performance. Stay updated on industry best practices and legislative changes, contributing to ongoing system improvements and IT transformation.

  • Contribute to Organizational Culture: Align with the mission and values of the organization, fostering a positive and collaborative team environment. Engage in continuous improvement efforts, participate in meetings, and contribute to professional development.

 

About you

You are an experienced integration specialist with a strong background in designing and developing HCM system integrations. You are skilled in collaborating with various business units, including HR, payroll, finance and IT, to gather requirements and recommend the best integration approaches. You have hands-on experience with Azure services, including ETL processes, data mapping and complex system integrations. You are adept at ensuring data accuracy, troubleshooting issues and optimizing integrations for efficiency and security. With a proactive mindset, you stay up to date with industry trends and best practices, contributing to continuous improvement. You thrive in a collaborative environment, bringing a positive, solutions-driven attitude while aligning with organizational values and fostering professional growth. 

 

More specifically you will have:

  • Experience integrating HCM systems (e.g., Dayforce, Workday, SAP SuccessFactors, Oracle HCM), with Dayforce experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of HCM data structures, including employee records, payroll codes, leave balances, and organizational structures.
  • Experience integrating with custom-built, internally managed applications, including those with limited API capabilities.
  • Proven track record in designing and implementing system integrations, ensuring seamless data exchange across multiple platforms.
  • In-depth knowledge of API vs. flat-file integration approaches and the ability to advise on the best solution based on system capabilities and business needs.
  • Experience in data mapping, transformation, and validation, including complex if/else logic.
  • Experience developing and owning SIT strategies, including test case creation, execution, and defect resolution for HCM integrations.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills to monitor, resolve, and minimize integration failures, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations.
  • Expertise in setting up automated logging, monitoring, and reporting tools to track and proactively address integration issues.
  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure integration services, including Azure Logic Apps, API Management, Functions, Data Factory, and Service Bus.
  • Strong SQL skills for querying, transforming, and validating data across systems.
  • Solid experience working with RESTful APIs, including authentication, data exchange, and error handling.
  • Familiarity with RESTful interfaces, SOAP, XML, JSON, XSLT, and other web services technologies.
  • Ability to develop and configure out-of-the-box software connectors for SaaS applications and integrate with legacy or internally managed systems.
  • Experience integrating with identity management and authentication services, ensuring secure system access.
  • Knowledge of OAuth, OpenID Connect, and SAML authentication protocols.
  • Understanding of data governance, security, and privacy standards, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Strong understanding and practical application of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) and Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) best practices.
  • Experience working within structured version control and deployment pipelines to ensure integration reliability.
  • Experience managing integration changes in an Agile and DevOps environment.
