About Us:

We are the St Vincent de Paul Society Victoria or, more fondly, Vinnies Victoria. For more than 165 years we have been providing practical and compassionate support to people across Victoria whose daily struggles can include putting food on the table, paying essential utilities and ensuring their children remain at school to obtain an education.

 

Under our Good Works umbrella we have many services and programs, including soup vans, education programs, home visitation programs and VincentCare Victoria (VCV), which assists some of Victoria’s most vulnerable communities, such as people experiencing homelessness, the housing crisis and family violence, and the elderly. VCV also provides employment to people living with disability.

 

 

About the Role:

The role of the Driver is to support the Soup Van Operation at Kensington  in Victoria.

In this role, you will be responsible for food collection, pick-up and drop-off of donated food, and ordering items where required. The role will also include any other duties as requested by the supervisor.

 

 

About You:

You are a positive individual with an unflappable demeanour who has a drive to be part of an organisation doing exceptional things in the community. You bring a 'hands on' flexible approach are a proactive operator who thrives on positively engaging with customers.

You are highly organised with a sound understanding of safe work practices.

More specifically you will have:

  • A valid driver’s license and a safe driving record;
  • Knowledge and understanding of Food Safety Regulations and Practices;
  • Commitment to safe and legal operating practices and adherence to Road Safety regulations;
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills;
  • The ability to work well with others and to contribute positively to a team environment;
  • Awareness of, and ability to work within, the ethos of the Society.

Eligibility

To be eligible for this role, you will need to have a Working with Children Check (WWCC) and complete a national police check issued by SVDP – the organisation will cover the cost.
