About the role:

Reporting to the Financial Reporting Manager, the Senior Financial Accountant plays a crucial role in providing financial advice and support within the context of shared services across the Group. This position is responsible for all aspects of financial control and statutory reporting, ensuring compliance with accounting principles, Australian standards, and organisational policies.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage month-end and year-end processes, ensuring internal controls over transaction recording and cut-offs.
  • Accountable for the effectiveness of financial internal controls for the Group and responsible for monthly reconciliations.
  • Accountable for payroll journals for the Group including ensuring accuracy on leave balances in accordance to regulatory requirements.  
  • Collaborate with the Financial Reporting Manager for timely delivery of Annual Statutory Accounts and ensure compliance with Australian accounting standards and concepts.
  • Manage the fixed asset register and reconcile assets on a monthly basis and lead the annual stock take and maintain leases in line with AASB16.
  • Accountable for daily bank reconciliation and maintaining accurate cash flow forecasts.
  • Develop understanding of the investment portfolio and ensure correct accounting under AASB 9 – Financial Instruments.

 

About You: 

A highly organized and detail oriented individual with your extensive experience in the field. You are able to analyse complex financial information and communicate it to a wide variety of audiences. You bring a client-focused approach to your work as you build strong relationships with key stakeholders and deliver excellent customer service.

More specifically you will have:

  • Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Commerce, or related field (essential).
  • CPA/CA qualified (essential).
  • Expert knowledge of Australian accounting standards, including recent standards (AASB 9, AASB 1058, AASB 15, AASB 16).
  • Knowledge of preparation of statutory financial statements.
  • Experienced in facilitating the external audit process.
  • High level of knowledge and experience in using financial accounting and payroll systems.
  • Highly developed communication and relationship management skills.
  • Experience of managing a busy and complex workload involving conflicting priorities, within strict timelines.
  • An analytical, pragmatic and outcomes focused approach to problem solving.
  • Highly developed report writing skills, including the ability to prepare management reports that will assist management decision-making processes.
